The Spod U Like Method,is a rig set up the involves using a small Gardner tackle boilie rocket, which is a solid walled spod with no holes in the sides, threaded on to the mainline of your normal carp rod,but also with a hooklength attached as well.
this method allows you to fish just under the surface with baits such as dog biscuits, chum mixers, pellets etc as hookbait, and spod a sloppy/ soup type spod mix on top of your hookbait, which will form a cloud in the surface layers of the water and draw fish it into the swim.by continually casting every 5 minutes, carp will be attracted by the splashing noise on the water, and will move in to investigate.they will swim through the cloud of soup sucking up the fine particles along with your hookbait.baits can often be instant with this method on hot/warm days when fish are cruising in the surface layers of the water. to construct the rig. thread the spod onto the mainline, and then thread a Korda tail rubber, the ones that fit on the line clips, onto the line in front of the spod.pull the tail rubber through the swivel on the spod,so it wedges in place, this prevents tangles, but also allows the spod to eject off of the line in the event of a line breakage.tie a size 8 Korda swivel on to the main line, and then push the end of the swivel in to the tail rubber, and attached your hooklength to the other end of the swivel as normal. to fish this method, use a sloppy soup type spod mix,a really wet carp type groundbait, mixed with coconut milk, will provide a cloud that will hang in the water for a long time. it is best suited to waters with good stocks of carp. it is not suited to days when there is a lot of tow,or drift on the water, which will carry the cloud and spod away from the catch area.

Jon,while a solid walled spod is better for soupy/cloudy mixs to prevent spillage.a normal spod with holes in the sides, will be better in summer and winter 90 percent of the time for normal spodding tactics.as the holes help prevent possible air bubbles forming under solid walled spods.which can sometimes slow the release of stodgy pellet based spod mixes.the holes let water through to help flush the contents of of the spod quicker.
