The match was being fished on lake 3 and was happy with my draw an end peg, we were fishing a lake supposedly stocked with carp to double figures big tench and bream so I started of with standard carp match tactics on the bottom, I tried sweetcorn, luncheon meat, pellet and even little match boilies for an hour and a half on two lines not even a knock, so I switched to worm and got some bites and even caught a few silvers (size 12 hook and half worm) eventually I came up in the water and caught more silvers ending up after 2 hours with about 20 fish. I figured that the match could be won with one decent fish so went back to carp style tactics for the last hour and a bit and didn't get another bite.
I weighed in at the end and my 20 fish amounted to ....... wait for it ......... you'll never guess how much ......... a whole 7oz thats how small the fish were. 3rd was won with a pound of tiddlers, 2nd 1lb 7 and first was 3lb all tiddlers. I suppose if I had stayed up in the water with a size 20 hook I might have stood a chance but I was after something a bit bigger. Nevermind there is always another match.

Claire, part of match fishing is making decisions sometimes, and hoping the gamble pays off.if it does not,you just put it down to experience and move on to the next match.
well done for taking part. ![]()
